My name is Duncan Lannin and I am a musical instrument maker based in South Devon.
Whilst studying music at Bath Spa University, in 1997, I trained under the tutelage of lute maker Art Robb.
I have a fairly traditional approach to instrument making, preferring hand-tools and a free building style. I build one instrument at a time allowing me to work with the chosen timbers to get best out of them and create something truly individual.
Wherever possible I try to use wood from local sources or reclaimed timber. All my instruments are hand finished with French polished shellac, oil and wax or a traditional violin varnish.
